Custom Woolen Mills 2-Ply sheep shades yarn is a two-strand mull-spun yarn made from Canadian-grown Merino and Rambouillet sheep. It is a chunky weight yarn and can be used for hand knitting and weaving for warp or weft. This yarn is available in three sheep-grown shades and pairs beautifully with the Mule Spinner 2-Ply Natural Dyes.
Mule spun yarn is spun at the Mill using a spinning mule built in 1910. The fibre is drawn, spun, relaxed and then wound, mirroring the process of hand-spinning and resulting in a beautifully soft yarn with an airy lively feel.
Yardage: 216y/198m per 112 g
Weight: Heavy Worsted
Gauge: 14 toi 16 sts per 4 inches
Needles: 5.5 mm (US 9)
Care: Hand wash
NB: The Mill lists this yarn as worsted weight but we find it knits with a nicer drape as a heavy worsted/aran/chunky weight. The yarn softens and blooms beautifully after a soak in wool wash.
