Fair Isle Weekend by Mary Jane Mucklestone
Knitwear designer Mary Jane Mucklestone takes you along on a magical trip to Fair Isle, the most remote inhabited island in the UK. The isle is famous for its bird life and, of course, its traditional colour work knitting. Mary Jane has designed a small collection based on knitwear she'd take along when going for a visit. Eight patterns, range from small projects like wristlets to yoked sweaters, are all designed using Shetland wool yarn and inspired by the traditional Fair Isle knitting style. In addition to the patterns, you’ll also meet Fair Isle residents Vivian Ross-Smith and her best friend and designer Ella Gordon, who model the knitwear and each contribute an essay. Also included is a bit of history about the deep-rooted traditions of Fair Isle knitting. Be transported to the windswept island!
