Shetland Wool Week's 2023 hat pattern is by patron Allison Rendall. The Buggiflooer Beanie is a design that incorporates traditional elements together with a flower motif. Buggiflooer, the Shetland name for Sea Campion, grows in abundance near Allison's home by the sea and the floral motif adorns this lovely hat.
We have put together 3 kits:
Colourway 3 (Jamieson's Spindrift version, original colours): 2 balls /50g total Cashew, and 1 ball/25g each Ivy, Sunrise, Rust, Ginger and Mustard.
Colourway 4 (Jamieson & Smith 2Ply Jumper Weight, original colours): 2balls/50g total Shade 77 and 1 ball each Shades 90, FC34, 14, 96, and 9097.
Colourway 5 (Uradale Yarn version reimagined in Spindrift): 2 balls/ 50g total Spindrift Shetland Black and 1 ball/25g each Spindrift Wild Violet, Sholmit, Mooskit, Natural White and Highland Mist.
NOTE:Since the pattern was launched, many knitters have reported running out of yarn in the main colour, needing a second ball to finish the hat. The designer has now recommended two 25g balls of main colour. We have increased the main colour amounts in our hat kits. We have not yet updated our photos, which still show only 1 25g ball of main colour.
